What's stressing YOU out about your hair?
Life is already stressful enough, so why let your hair stress you out more? Everybody's got them, but we're here to help. Check out the top concerns clients have with their hair and how we can help fix it!
> Graying Hair <
If you're predisposed to gray hair, stress can cause the melanin in your hair to stop producing, leaving it gray. It can also cause your hair to become thinner in diameter over time. Damn you, genetics.
Maintain Your Color: Prevent your strands from premature aging by using protein-rich products, like AG Tech Two Shampoo and Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Conditioner. Use Joico Tint Shot to keep any stray grays concealed between color services - available in blonde, light brown, dark brown, and black.
> Thinning Hair <
Keep Your Hair on Your Head: Hair loss is usually a reaction to significant physiological stress caused by an extreme change in your diet, medical issues, or sudden lifestyle changes..But there is light at the end of the tunnel: Once the culprit of your hair loss is addressed and under control, your hair will return to its regular growing system and begin to grow and shed normally again. For a quick fix to make your hair feel more full, try a thickening spray like Nioxin's Thickening Spray, which will instantly make your hair feel more dense and full. For those of you given unfortunate genetics, dermatologists recommend a weekly scalp scrub (try Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Hair and Scalp Treatment) to remove inflammatory product buildup. Then, use a shampoo/conditioner combo to help re-stimulate your scalp and promote growth. Redken Cerafill Defy or Retaliate is the perfect solve (They have won a ton of beauty awards, too).
> Frizz <
It is one of the top complaints amongst our clients. Some of them may even say it is their biggest stressor of all! When you're prone to frizz, moisture is your kryptonite.
Shield your hair: Frizz prevention starts in the shower. Use a moisturizing, sulfate-free shampoo to prevent your hair from "irritation" which can cause that stubborn frizz. Queue, Pureology Hydrate Shampoo. Next, use a nourishing styling product before you use a blowdryer or air-dry to keep any frizz at bay. L'Anza's Keratin Healing Oil is the perfect product for all hair types. It's light enough for finer hair, but moisturizing enough for coarse hair. PLUS, it has heat protection for up to 450 degree's (which a lot of oils don't have). Then, if you can block water/moisture from your hair, you can prevent frizz from creeping up on you in the middle of the day. A humidity-resistant hair spray is best, like MoroccanOil's Luminous Strong Hold hairspray. It will keep any style all day, without the feeling of hairspray in your hair!
> Oily Scalp <
Turns out, workouts aren't the only thing that cut the life of blowout in half. When you're stressed, it may affect hormone levels and make your scalp oily. These same hormones increase oil production in the skin, so if you're really lucky you can look forward to a breakout, too.....great.
Extend your blow out: Use dry shampoo - but in moderation! Using it once in a while is fine, but if you pile it on day after day, you risk clogging hair follicles, and that can damage your hair over time and possible lead to thinning hair. We are all guilty of going 2, 3, or even 4 days with adding on another layer of dry shampoo. Don't get use wrong, we love our dry shampoo (Milkshake Lifestyling Dry Shampoo and MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo, we're talking to you) and our sleep so who hasn't! But sometimes dry shampoo isn't for you. Try experimenting with different up-do's to extend the time between washes! Design-ME's Puff.Me Volumizing Cloud Mist is the perfect companion to achieve any look your going for. It adds grit into your hair as well as volume that is out of this world.
