How To Create The Perfect Blow-Out!

How To Create The Perfect Blow-Out!

I absolutely love getting a great blowout done at the salon, but I don’t always have the time and money to do so. However, I’ve found a blowout routine I can do at home that’s convenient for me! It takes very little time and energy, which is great for a working mom like myself.

When I get out of the shower I like to towel blot any excess water from my hair. The very first thing I do is I put in a thermal protector or a hair primer. My favorite one to use is the Prime Style Extender by Living proof. It’s wonderful because it expands blowout styles for more than two days while keeping my hair cleaner for longer by repelling dirt and oil! My hair tends to fall flat quickly so Living proof’s Prime Style Extender is the only one that works well for my hair type!

Okay, next step - for extra volume and height I like to use the TechniArt Full Volume Extra mousse by L’Oréal Professional. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky and it’s quite easy to blow dry with because it’s such a fluffy mousse. Thanks to the fact that the hold is extra strong, it helps to make the final blowout look last for even longer than usual! Cha ching!

I know that everyone has different hair types so for those with thick hair there are different products I have to also recommend. Dont' worry, I didn't forget about you! A good primer for someone with thick hair would definitely be the Tame Frizz De-Frizz oil by KMS coupled with the Therma Shape spray. Both of those products together work to relax the frizz and puffiness of the hair. The Tame Frizz De-Frizz oil extends the life of the blowout for three days and it’s humidity resistant. Alongside that, the Therma Shape spray helps protect the hair from heat while maintaining the shape of the blowout.

Now that the products have been picked out, it’s time to spray the hair with my chosen primer or thermal protector. I spray the hair from root to tip to get an equal amount of bounce throughout. I then comb through the product in wth a wide tooth comb to coat the hair. I like to use a wide tooth comb because it helps to detangle my hair and spreads the product evenly...

After that, I put in my mousse from root to tip. Once the mousse is in, I section my hair into four quadrants; one on each side of my head where my ears are and two at the back. If I had thicker hair, I would add an extra quadrant on top of my head at the crown. It makes for a faster blow dry job if I section my hair in advance.

Finally, it’s time to start blow drying!

I like to work at the back first. At the back I take my round brush, preferrably a medium or large size and get to drying! The round brush I like to use is the 45mm Ionic Ceramic Brush by Moroccan Oil

I point the nozzle towards the round brush and I work the hair towards the front, pushing against the natural growth pattern of the hair. This helps create volume! For someone who has thick hair, I would recommend following the natural growth pattern instead for a sleek and smooth finish. I start at the top, go all the way down and at the ends of my hair I roll the brush back up and repeat until dry. Once I blowdry the back of my hair, I work on the two front quadrants and repeat the same thing from bottom to top....

The final step! Let's work on the top section now... I take small sections of my hair all around and keep blow drying it top to bottom until I reach the crown. Once I’m finished, I like to pull my hair forward and give it a final blow dry with cold air. Why cold air, you ask? It’s because doing a final blow dry with cold air freezes everything in place!

We're almost done! I like to put an oil to tame down any frizzies and add extra shine to complete look. My favorite oil to use is Milkshake Glistening Spray. It’s lightweight and smells wonderful! Which is always a bonus ;)

It’s optional to use hairspray at the end but if you want to make sure your blowout lasts for a few days, then try using KMS Hair Stay! Get long lasting hold without the crunch!
Okay guys... after all these steps are completed, you and I have achieved a perfect blowout at home. My hair is bouncy and voluminous - I'm feeling so ready to slay the day, are you?!
